  • I got this bag free from the vet clinic at the tractor store and it gave my 4 month old German shepherd diarrhea and made my 2.5 year old Boston terrier sick. He barely wants to eat or drink. They literally had one bowl of it- I checked the reviews on it prior and they were pretty much good so I didn’t think of it but I threw the bag away and put them back on their beneful. Hopefully my Boston terriers better in the morning or I have to take a trip to the Vet

  • for those with animals getting diarrhea while switching foods. Switching foods should take about a week, not a couple days.
    3/4 old, 1/4 new food for 2 days…
    1/2 and 1/2 for 2 days…
    1/4 old, 3/4 new food for 2 days…
the 7th day totally all new food.

I’m not a vet, but this seems to be the best way to transition your dog to new food. Most people are impatient, or do not want to buy another small bag of their old food along with the new food. Spend the money people, as my pets deserve what they deserve, I don’t care what it costs.

  • Question- I having been feeding my 7 yr old cockapoos 4health Lamb and rice for 7 years. My one dog gets hot spots on and off. Has not been allergy tested. A friend recommended train free food so I purchased the grain free salmon food (white bag). The. I read an article that the FDA has found a link to grain free food and cardiomyopathy? Can you get back to me your knowledge on this please

  • My Shar Pei puppies do really well on this particular brand. No complaints on my end.. They love it, and love the treats as well..

  • My 3 dogs have been on Salmon for years and have NEVER been sick from it… their coats are clear of rashes, itching and dry skin… People should know how to make the transition to new food adding gradually. If your pet is sick take them to vet… it does not mean it is from this dog food… I give my Border Collie and two Shiatzu’s ONLY this product… they are HEALTHY Thank You Jesus.

  • i need to know if there is sufficient amounts of taurine in your pet foods to keep my pets safe from
    poential heart problems

  • I just started transitioning our dog to 4Health from TOTW Pacific Wilderness. After first day of just this new food, she’s having diarrhea and mushy stool. She also developed an ear infection. She was completely healthy before the transition. I’m not sure what to do. Do I give it another week to see if her stool gets better or go back to old food? She devours the food and is perky and playful. I thought this was a better product. Any insight anyone?

    • Did you end up transitioning her to 4Health? I currently have my dogs on TOTW Pacific Wilderness, but my 3 dogs got sick with the new bag I bought & I’m considering exploring 4Health.

    • It is important to look at the percentage of Crude Fat. The higher the crude fat, the more the pancreas works to secrete digestive enzymes and the stools can be loose and flat. Particularly if the crude fat percentage of the previous food is much less than that of the 4Health. For my dog, I look at the Crude Fat at a minimum of 4 1/2% to 5 1/2%. 4Health has food from 4 1/2% to as high as 9% minimum. The lower the crude percentage the easier the food is to digest and the stools are generally firm – thus very efficient digestion.

    • Correlation is not causation! My dogs have been on the Salmon and potatoes for years and they are doing great. Try backing off the percentages and give your pup more time to adjust. BTW, TOTW is made by the same company and many feel the formulas are very close!

  • This is one of only 2 dog foods my great dane can eat with his picky tummy. It is a great food at a great price with the added plus of less faces yeah that’s right less to pick up later… 5 stars from me.

  • I started feeding my puppy this transitioning from Eukanuba and after one full day of just this he developed bad diarrhea, started looking extremely skinny and has barely any appetite, not drinking much and had a very high fever. We have now taken him off of the food And he is slowly improving we had him to the vet and they haven’t seen anything going on with him that would cause this. Has this happened to anyone else’s dog from taking this food

    • No. Never had any issues with this food that we served to 2 Min Pins, 1 Lab mix, and one Boxer. The Boxer has experienced loose stool with other foods, so he was pretty picky.

      • I have a min pin on the adult small bred and he’s good but gaining weight, which is all on me. I was wondering if you ever tried the weight management food on your min pins?

    • When my medium-sized bird-dog/Jack Russell mix was a few months old, he got diarrhea after eating the beef and potato flavor. We switched over to the turkey and sweet potato, and have been feeding him that for the past year with no issues.

    • I hope you are SLOWLY transitioning your dog from the old food to the new. You dont just stop old food and give new. It takes about 10 days of mix old and new a little at first then every few days you add more new and less old until by day 10 you have xompletely transitioned to only new food. Your dogs tummy has to get used to the different food SLOWLY. If you didnt do that then that is the reason for the diarhea.
