All Aboard! Flair Airlines Welcomes ESAs on Its Planes!

Emotional support animals (ESAs) are necessary companions. They help people with a mental or emotional disability live their day-to-day lives better. Flair Air knows this, which is why the airline welcomes ESAs aboard!

Keep in mind that an emotional support animal is not a service animal. There’s a separate service dog policy, so don’t get them confused. ESAs are also not pets, hence the Flair Air ESA Policy, which is different from its pet policy.

Unlike Pets, ESAs Fly Free of Charge: You Just Need an ESA Letter!

You need an emotional support animal letter to travel with your ESA. Otherwise, how could the airline personnel know your furry companion isn’t just a pet? Think of your ESA letter as a boarding pass for Fido or Mittens. It’s one of Flair Airlines’ requirements for animal travel.

It’s this ESA letter that will wave a pet fee for you. Pet owners have to pay $75 for their furry friend to fly with them. You don’t. Isn’t that great?

Among other things, it gives people the right to travel with their ESAs. And the best part? They don’t have to pay a dime!

What Animals and Breeds Are Allowed on Flair Air Flights?

The Flair Air ESA Policy says that small dogs and cats can fly in the cabin. They have to fit under the chair in front of you comfortably. Luckily, there are no specific breed restrictions. Even short-nosed kittens and puppies are welcome!

ESAs as Carry-On Luggage: Which ESAs Are Allowed in the Cabin?

Every airline has carry-on baggage regulations. This one is no exception, not even if you’re traveling with your emotional support animal.

If your ESA is too big to fit under the chair in front of you, they’ll have to stay behind. Unfortunately, the Flair Air ESA Policy states no animals can travel as checked baggage or in the cargo hold.

ESA and Carrier Size and Weight Restrictions

Your furry friend can’t fly on your lap. They’ll have to travel inside a kennel or carrier at your feet.

The carrier can’t be larger than 16 inches long by 9 inches wide by 10 inches wide (or 41 cm by 23 cm by 25 cm). It also can’t weigh any more than 22 pounds (or 11 kgs). Remember that this is the weight limit for your kennel and ESA combined.

Your Carrier or Kennel Needs to Check All the Boxes!

Having an adequate kennel is another one of the requirements for ESAs flying with Flair Air. Make sure Fido’s or Mittens’ carrier checks all these boxes!

  • Must be soft-sided
  • Has to be leak-proof
  • Must be well-ventilated
  • Has to be roomy for your ESA

Make Sure Fido Is Fit for Travel: Important Documentation You’ll Need

The only documentation you’ll always need is an emotional support animal letter. That’s good news if you hate filling out paperwork!

In spite of that, you’ll still need to get in touch with customer service up to 48 hours before flight departure. This way, they can make arrangements for Fido to be comfortable on the plane.

On top of that, some destinations require animal owners to take additional paperwork with them. A veterinary health and safety certificate, for example, is a popular requirement. But don’t worry: they’re easy to get and customer service will let you know whether you need to worry about it or not.

Lastly, the Flair Air ESA Policy doesn’t allow animals on international flights. But since there’s so much to see and do in Canada, we’re sure you won’t be cheated out of an amazing holiday!

Now comes the fun part: gathering and packing everything for your vacation. Think you have all you need for Fido to board that plane? Make sure you’ve checked all these support animals boxes:
